The purpose of this Standard Practices Manual is to assist the officers to administer the affairs of the section in an organized and professional manner by outlining the duties and responsibilities of each officer and committee, establishing a Calendar of Section Affairs, and other policies required by AWWA or established by prior practice or tradition in the Section.

The Standard Practice Manual shall be reviewed annually by the Illinois Section Board of Trustees for any amendments. The Strategic Planning/Standard Practices Manual Committee shall conduct a review of the Manual and recommend any amendments for approval by the Board of Trustees

The Illinois Section acknowledges other Sections for making available their Standard Practices Manuals as models for the Illinois Section and especially Jacqueline K. Downing for the creation of all the graphics and for the final compilation of the first manual in 1993.

The assistance of Lori Nappe and Pamela Lovett, Administrative Coordinators, and Sean Sinclair, GIS Specialist, Illinois State Water Survey, in updating selected tables and the Illinois Section District map for the 1995 revised manual is also appreciated.
